Atlanta Science Festival Extravaganza
Starting out: scared stiff and Kevin's nano booth
During the whole time, I was very stiff and terrified that we'd surely never get setup in time. In turns out, my fears were ill-founded. A few booths setup even later than we did, amazingly. I drew the green poster and Kevin did the other two. Then, I was terrified of talking to people, afraid that I'd be unable to explain any science in a non-complicated way. I told Kevin - he had to talk to people! - and I would watch. Don't leave! I said. People came by and I listened to him talk. He was giving away free samples of 13 nm gold nanoparticles, which I thought was SOO awesome and people really liked it.
After I watched him talk a while, I started talking to people, feeling as if I had a template on which to go off of. I asked John to pray for me, and it worked. I started relaxing. It was still a little scary.
Enjoying the show
Khalid visited our booth and that was fun. Around noon/1 pm, I switched to the molecular boats booth. Victor had replaced Carol as the primary speaker. I took over his role explaining the boats, after listening to HIM talk for a while.
Finding food was hard
The molecular boats booth
After talking so much, we were all really tired. Yvonne and Kevin I think were the most tired. They did the most talking out of all of us. Traffic was horrific afterward. But, it was a good experience! And we had fun.
