Day Zero, Thursday, The adventures begin ...
John at Rise and Dine, breakfast diner
John with me at work! It made the day like a date. On Thursday, John had the day off work, so he came to hang out with me at Emory! That was amazingly fun. I introduced him to Josh and Roxy, and he got to say hi to Khalid and the other lab members. While I worked, he got to relax and goof off in the very nice oval sitting area outside our lab. We ate lunch at Rise and Dine, a breakfast diner, and I got the largest cup of fresh squeezed orange juice I've ever had.
Dat orange juice - Mmm good! | Working and preparing: I put in a long 3 hr experiment, and meanwhile, we put our luggage in our hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton and picked up our Dragon*Con badges! I wish I had a picture of it - the hotel had "Dragon-aid" aka blue Kool-aid for everyone to drink, along with dry ice bubbling in colored water on their table. It was amazing. |
Photo of the badges we picked up! And others along the way ...
Day 1, Friday, Now the real fun starts!
First things first: back to school! I had to go back to Emory in the morning to finish the last class of pharmacology. There's a test question on every lecture, so I didn't want to miss any. Then we went back to Dragon*Con to start the fun. Here are the resulting photos.
Visiting with Rebel Legion friends
Left, our friend Jake, and right - check out the new Kylo Ren saber.
Day 2, Saturday, Mayhem!
We watched the tail end of the parade, then went to a few panels. My parents dropped in during the evening and got to see some of the craziness first hand!
Eating at the Ritz-Carlton Grill!
In the evening, John and I ate at the Ritz-Carlton Grill, which was really exciting! It was fancy and the food was really good.
Day 3, Sunday, The fun continues!
Day 4, Monday, Robot Battles
Our host tells this story every year and I finally got it on video! I love listening to it - it's great.
