Daniel came back from Tennessee to walk in his Ph.D. graduation. Afterward, we all went to Fritti to celebrate. Yuan took some photos. It was fun!

Third photo, Kevin, Zheng, Victor. Last photo, Zheng giving the 3-min pitch of his research to the audience.
The lab celebrated Khalid's birthday and the 5th anniversary of the lab (Aug 1st). It was good cake!
Kevin molested Victor's sign on his laptop. It's a very "Kevin" thing to do. As I hear it, this is not the first time.
Dad loves photography and has a great Flickr site where he uploads the photos! Check it out here. If you want to see some of the pet photos he's taken, see my new pet's album here. The following are some of my other favorites that he's done.

Ms. Harmon got to visit this Saturday!!
Yesterday was a perfect day to me. Ms. Harmon came over to visit and we got to watch Extraordinary Measures together, about a scientist and businessman who went into business together to make a drug for Pompe disease. We've been planning to watch this particular movie for about two years.
Then, we got Chick-fil-a and discussed Brandon Sanderson's books (she and Ian are reading Words of Radiance) and other books. Over food, I discussed all the latest stuff in my research and told how excited I was about the next week. She asked enthusiastic questions and re-explained stuff to make certain she had gotten it right.
It made me realize that even though I thought I knew how to explain things to a non-expert in the field, I actually do not. I need to work on that. It was SO much fun!! I had often imagined and dreamed of having Ms. Harmon over for a day and I got my chance. It was a perfect day.
