The goodness of God
The Lord encourages me, doing things around me when I least expect it. James told me how the Lord encouraged him. He really needed a vacuum and thought how amazing it would be to have a Hoover bagless. One day last week, he happened to find a Hoover bagless, new, sitting at a dump. He took it, cleaned the dirt out and used it and it works so well!! He got a Hoover bagless for free. He said, that reminded him that the Lord was watching over Him and knew what he needed before he asked Him.
The Lord is so good. Can you imagine it? Just think, even if life were crappy, we get to be with Him forever. I can't imagine such goodness. It seems surreal. Sometimes, I've thought in the past few weeks, it can't possibly be true, because it's just too good. We're so undeserving.
But, spending time with Him, hearing other believers talk of being with Him ... I know He's not going to leave me and He really is that good. I know no other verses right now that speak what I feel more than these:
Psalm 73:22-28
I was so foolish and ignorant;
I was like a beast before You.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with You;
You hold me by my right hand.
24 You will guide me with Your counsel,
And afterward receive me to glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but You?
And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.
26 My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
27 For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish;
You have destroyed all those who desert You for harlotry.
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God;
I have put my trust in the Lord GOD,
That I may declare all Your works.
A Need for Him
Acts 16:26-28
"And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ "
