Tuesday, March 24, 2015, Finished virology test 2!
I'm ALIVE!! Actually, I was really surprised how much better I felt after the test. It had been stressing me ought way more than I even knew. I think it was ok - didn't fail at least - one-half I'm confident about and the other half could go either way.
NOW TO FOCUS ON ATL SCIENCE FESTIVAL!!!
I attempted to make some more hydrophobic sand tonight this time with silicon scotchguard coating. The foam kind I tried yesterday didn't have a long-lasting effect. We shall see ...

Monday, March 23, 2015, Insanity Reigns
Hello! I've been scarce blogging because March has been crazy.
I've been scarce due to March Madness - literally, this month has been insane. Last week in particular was incredibly stressful, largely due to the ATL science festival approaching and feeling as if I was not preparing for it properly. Also, I attempted crazy amounts of experiments and our -20C freezers decided to fail (both of them). I am hoping that with this status, I shall get back into writing statuses, especially after ATL science festival exploration expo on March 28th, this next Saturday.
How goes the schedule?
The immortalized schedule is in good form. I have not followed it perfectly, but I have not now made perfection my goal, but long-term increases in consistency, which has overall occurred. I have put special emphasis on reading papers and less emphasis on study of amino acids. Right now, it is not getting much accomplished, due to pressing other needs, but I will go straight back to it in April. I did read a 2-page article today though which made me happy! It's helped me to develop some good habits. Namely, my version of reading a newspaper in the mornings is now flipping through Feedly for 10 min looking at the newly published articles, which has been something I've come to look forward to. My 10 min browse.
Today, studying
Today, I largely studied for my virology test tomorrow. Not fun but must be done! I do like viruses though. I'm enjoying this class overall. Almost every lecture has a different teacher. A few have appeared a 2nd and 3rd time. My student Sam also worked on making more RNA buffers for our experiments. We've been getting some truly weird and disappointing results lately. I'm hoping to clear that up next week. I got him his own box of reagents today. This Wed, he'll do his first fully autonomous experiment and surprise me! I look forward to seeing what he picks.
Future
After ATL science festival expo, I took M and Tu off to get rest from the recent March stress. Then, I'll be back into thick of things and really looking forward to an exciting month of April and May with much fewer interruptions to experiments! Since January, most of the experimenting I've done - while it gets done - has been stressful, difficult and like pulling teeth, with everything else that's been going on. On weekends, I've gone back to my roots of playing SWTOR with friends online and that has helped give me another outlet for concentration and focus. I hope to write a few fan fic stories this summer for grins. Gotta have a hobby, right?
