Our Pets: Photos
Cats: Zenith, Samus and Meru
We got the most adorable orange kittens from our kitten-fostering friend Amy Davenport. Getting an orange kitten has been my dream since childhood. Here are pictures below.
Parent's Pet Photos
Cats: Spock
Spock is a large tabby we rescued as a kitten from the Gwinnett Medical parking lot. He's finally grown into his ears and is a fantastic giant of a cat, larger than the Yorkie. He loves being outside, catching birds, snatching meat from the counter-top and being otherwise mischievous. In his youth, he used to wrestle the little dogs. He is not a shy cat, very big boned, muscular and heavy.
Cats: Suki
Suki was originally James's cat and has come to live with my parents since they have a larger home. He has a very different personality from Spock and is terribly amusing. He likes to sit on people's shoulders, loves chasing ping-pong balls in the bathtub and absolutely LOVES attacking string. He'll occasionally swat at the tails of the other cats. He enjoys exploring outdoors and chasing his tail around the ferns upstairs. He's also very affectionate and loves people, but is skittish around newcomers. He's much lighter than Spock is.
Cats: Camie and Cassie
Camie and Cassie (pronounced Casey) are sisters from the same litter. Their mother Friendly has already passed. But, Camie has been my cat for many years. They are both 14 years old, as they were born in 2000. Camie has her mother's primadonna personality and loves eating bacon and scraps of meat. She's skinny, with an angular face, and nothing she eats makes her any fatter. She leaves people alone except to ask for food. Casey has a famous "dumb look," is rounder of face and body, and is extraordinarily mild-mannered. She likes to sit in people's laps.
Dogs: Clay, Sammy and Mango
The large dog Clay was bought from the pound and is a sweet dog who likes being outdoors. We think he's a lab / shepherd mix. Sammy is a female Yorkie and Mango is the male pomeranian / chihuahua mix. Mango is very mischievous: likes digging holes, stealing food and running out the front door. Sammy is very spoiled and likes attention from anyone who will rub her stomach or give her scraps.
Rabbit: Mochi
Yuan and her boyfriend James graciously donated their rabbit to my parents on Sept 2, 2014. They are quite delighted! Her name is Mochi, after a Japanese folklore in which rabbits are said to be on the moon making rice cakes (called mochi). She is very tame and friendly, hopping around her cage, peering at visitors and appreciating head pats. Yuan says that she is like a dog, very clean and enjoyed hopping around her while she watched TV. My parents have built Mochi a large outside cage that encloses a trellis complete with an indoor wooden house, straw and timothy hay. Mochi loves to eat carrot greens and carrots. She now has a live web cam on her 24/7. For the link, to her camera, see here.
