Daniel came back from Tennessee to walk in his Ph.D. graduation. Afterward, we all went to Fritti to celebrate. Yuan took some photos. It was fun! Our chemistry people eating lunch at the Soft Matter seminar. First picture, left to right, Tao (Conticello lab), Yang and Kornelia (Salaita). Second photo, Zheng, Victor, Weiwei, Edward (Salaita). Third photo, Kevin, Zheng, Victor. Last photo, Zheng giving the 3-min pitch of his research to the audience. The lab celebrated Khalid's birthday and the 5th anniversary of the lab (Aug 1st). It was good cake! Kevin molested Victor's sign on his laptop. It's a very "Kevin" thing to do. As I hear it, this is not the first time.

James's graduation! After graduation celebration at Ruth Chris Steak House and his old apartment, with the friendly gray catJames's New ApartmentMs. Harmon got to visit this Saturday!!Yesterday was a perfect day to me. Ms. Harmon came over to visit and we got to watch Extraordinary Measures together, about a scientist and businessman who went into business together to make a drug for Pompe disease. We've been planning to watch this particular movie for about two years. Then, we got Chick-fil-a and discussed Brandon Sanderson's books (she and Ian are reading Words of Radiance) and other books. Over food, I discussed all the latest stuff in my research and told how excited I was about the next week. She asked enthusiastic questions and re-explained stuff to make certain she had gotten it right. It made me realize that even though I thought I knew how to explain things to a non-expert in the field, I actually do not. I need to work on that. It was SO much fun!! I had often imagined and dreamed of having Ms. Harmon over for a day and I got my chance. It was a perfect day. It made me cry because it's the personification of all that he expresses to me almost every day, how he acts, and how he treats me. Song: The Mona Lisa"The Mona Lisa" by Brad Paisley
Now there are men who make history There are men who change the world And there are men like me That simply find the right girl And in that very moment, it all becomes clear What I’m meant to do, the reason I’m here Now every night I thank the Lord I found you And every time I put my arms around you I feel like the frame that gets to hold the Mona Lisa And I don’t care if that’s all I ever do It never fails, we walk in a room Nobody sees me, they’re all lookin’ at you I disappear but that’s fine with me I feel the same way, you’re all I can see Now they’ve written books about da Vinci’s muse Now I know it wasn’t but it shoulda been you 'Cause I feel like the frame that gets to hold the Mona Lisa And I don’t care if that’s all I ever do Why don’t we run off to Paris while we’re still young We could drink a little wine, have a little fun I could tell you I love you in a foreign tongue We could work on our French in more ways than one I could take your hand, we could walk in the Louvre I could show ‘em real beauty, let ‘em get a load of you 'Cause I feel like the frame that gets to hold the Mona Lisa And I don’t care if that’s all I ever do I feel like the frame that gets to hold the Mona Lisa And I don’t care if that’s all I ever do |
