My favorite moment was during "Hang the benzene." We were each taking turns thinking of chemistry words to do. If someone got a letter wrong, a line of benzene would go up on the noose. Someone put up a word that was loooooooonnnnggg. There were two vowals and a consonant up. Vijay suddenly jumped up from a desk, counted out the spaces rapidly and looked up and said, "It's triphenolmethanol!" The guy was ticked, because he was right. LOL! There was a lot of that going on, it turned out. But that was the funniest one.
I hear that Dr. Saadein is planning a hiking trip up Stone Mt w/ his students - with one caveat - I have to be there! I told him he was making me a scapegoat, as it's unlikely I'll be able to make it.
Dr. Saadein asked me if I'd like to substitute for him the first day of his summer organic 222 class at Emory. I was aghast and thought he was kidding, but it turns out, he wasn't. I was really honored that he had such confidence in me - a lot more than I do in myself, I think. But, he said that he got into teaching largely by people throwing him in and he thought it would be a good opportunity for me. I don't deny that. I said, maybe I would. We'll see!
